Mr. Joseph Aaron Morris

Joseph Aaron Morris, 25, of Asheville North Carolina, the youngest child of Gus Morris, Jr., of Asheville, NC and Teri Morris of Isle of Palms, SC, left behind all of those who love him in this world, to enter into the presence of our LORD, on Monday, 13 August 2012. Aaron lived his life on his own terms. Growing up he was an avid snowboarder, sharing many glorious hours on the slopes with his brother, Seth, his dad, and his friends on the mountains of North Carolina and Colorado. At five years old Aaron started riding dirt bikes and motorcycles. It was the beginning of his love for motorcycles and the "need for speed." He played football for Asheville High School and never spent a moment on the practice or playing field when he wasn’t giving his team and his school 100% of his physical talents and his dedication. The years that Aaron played for Asheville High School, the team went on to be MAC Champions. After graduation, Aaron joined the United States Air Force, and he served his country proudly and sacrificially in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was awarded the Purple Heart for being wounded during a search and rescue mission of fallen soldiers. When Aaron finished his service in the US Air Force, he signed up for the North Carolina National Guard, serving in Charlotte, NC. With two honorable discharges Aaron returned home to Asheville and was presently working alongside his brother and father in the family businesses of Sonic Drive-In and Morris Funeral Home. Aaron grew up attending First Presbyterian Church, Asheville. Most recently, Aaron gave his heart to the LORD and he was living out his life sharing his passion with others. In addition to his parents, Aaron is survived by his sister; Lindsey Morris Harrison and her husband Xavier of Charlotte, NC, his brother, Seth Morris of Asheville; his paternal grandparents, Gus and Mary Morris, and Jim and Martha Borawa, all of Asheville, his maternal grandparents, Norman Brigden of Port Union, Newfoundland, and Susan Tucker of Geneva, OH; his nephews, Olivier Eli Harrison and Dominique Harrison and his niece, Jasmine Harrison, all of Charlotte, NC; Aaron leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends who will miss him each and every day. Aaron also leaves behind his very special babies, Dixie and Hercules, his beloved dogs who never left his side. Aaron is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Brigden and his great uncle, William T. Morris. Aaron’s family will receive friends at Morris Funeral Home, 304 Merrimon Avenue, Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM. A Celebration of Aaron’s life will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, August 17, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Margaret Torrence & Rev. Dr. Robert Blackburn, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Aaron’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Aaron was very proud to have served his country. His heart was the heart of a patriot and a hero.
