Brenda Brouillette Browne

Brenda Brouillette Browne, 77, of Asheville, passed away peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, October 24th, 2023. A native of Spruce Pine, NC, Brenda was the daughter of the late Joseph Anthony Brouillette and Belle Sparks Brouillette. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Raymond M. Browne, her brothers Andy Brouillette and Gary Brouillette, sister Sonya Brouillette, and nephew Francis (Frank) Vincent Browne. Brenda grew up in Asheville and was a graduate of St. Genevieve of the Pines and Lee-Edwards High School. She was a former fashion buyer for the children’s department of Belk department stores traveling to various fashion venues and later working in the banking proof division of Wachovia. Brenda was an active member of St. Eugene Catholic Church and Asheville Catholic Community School where she did extensive volunteer work for many years. She also volunteered in various youth literacy programs, teaching children the gift of reading. Brenda loved to travel with her husband, Ray, often picnicking throughout the mountains, spending time at the beach with family, and many lunches and parties with treasured family and friends. Brenda is survived by her son, Michael Raymond Browne, and his wife, Monica, of Matthews, NC, and his two children Nathaniel Raymond Browne and Abigail Catherine Browne, of the home. Her nieces and nephews William Fleming Browne III (Trip) of Asheville, Maier Runyon Browne and husband Scott Runton of John’s Island, SC, Timothy (Tim) Browne and wife Christine MacLeod of Asheville, Ellen Browne McGuire and husband Joe McGuire of Asheville, Laura Browne Livaudais and husband Durel Livaudais. Brenda is also survived by her dear aunt Mattie Sparks of Spruce Pine, cousins Kay Young and Bobbie Young both of Marion; Dale Sparks, Rick Sparks, and Billy Sparks all of Spruce Pine. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 72 Culvern Street, with Fr. Patrick Cahill celebrating, which will be streamed live at www.steugene.org. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1st, 2023 at Morris Funeral Home, 304 Merrimon Avenue.
