Guy D. Roberts Jr.

Guy D. Roberts, Jr. of Asheville passed away unexpectedly on January 4, 2025 at the age of 71 after a period of declining health. He was born on September 15, 1953 to Guy D. Roberts, Sr. and Barbara Chandler Roberts. As a young boy Guy enjoyed playing little league and being a Scout. Growing up near Asheville Cleaners he attended Claxton School. Guy loved to talk about life growing up and fun times with friends. He taught himself how to ride a unicycle and had many interesting stories about where he rode. Guy grew up in Asbury Memorial Methodist Church and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He was a proud 1972 graduate of Asheville High School. He could tell a great joke and could make anyone laugh. Guy loved to talk about the cars he had growing up. The biggest highlight of his life was marrying Leesa. Guy loved listening to music, watching golf, car racing and college basketball. He became an avid golfer and was proud of his five hole-in-ones and was a member of The Country Club of Asheville. Guy looked forward to playing weekend golf and occasional golf trips with his friends. He enjoyed special holiday family gatherings and celebrations. Guy deeply loved his family and friends and would do anything for them. He supported many charities over the years. Guy grew up in the family business Asheville Cleaners and Dyers which his grandfather, A. Fulton Roberts, Sr., established in 1938. He worked with his grandfather, father and uncle learning the business and was proud to be the third generation. Guy was an owner of Asheville Cleaners and Dyers. He dedicated his working career to the business and was hoping to retire. Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Guy D. Roberts, Sr. and Barbara Chandler Roberts; Gail Roberts Garmany (sister) and Jeffrey Chandler Roberts (brother). Guy is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Leesa; Knox Garmany III (brother- in-law), Leslie and Bobby Roland (sister-in-law and brother in-law), Robin Whiteside and Shea Pilgrim (sisters-in-law); Ashley Roland, Bella Whiteside (nieces), Knox Garmany IV, Michael Garmany, Robert Roland Jr., Trevor Whiteside (nephews); Griffan Garmany (great nephew); Dakota Garmany (great niece); two aunts, Susie Ray and Marie Flowers Ray and many special cousins. He also leaves behind his most precious doodle girl, Millie. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until 4:00pm on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Morris Funeral Home, 304 Merrimon Ave., Asheville. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Disease, Manna Food Bank or a favorite charity.
