Robert "Bob" J Santangelo

Robert “Bob” J Santangelo, Sr., 75, of Weaverville, peacefully left this earth to soar among the angels in Heaven, on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Bob succumbed to his injuries at Mission Hospital sustained from a car accident. Bob, as most everyone knew him, was born on October 28, 1949, in Westchester County, NY. He was the son of Rosemarie M Santangelo and the late Jack J Santangelo. Bob is survived by his mother: Rosemarie Santangelo, his wife: Diana Carter Santangelo, children: Michelle Santangelo of CA, Nicole Santangelo Vargas, (Otoniel) of New York, Robert Jr. (Kara) Alexander, Jack (Amanda) New York, Ryan, New York. Grandchildren: Rowen, River, Ryland, Theodore Santangelo, Sol Vargas and Nora Vargas to arrive in late fall, special son Nathanial Bailey, stepdaughters: Mary Jo and Bailee Carter. Sister: Jacqueline (Howard) Swartz, Brothers: Stephen (Anne), Richard (Pam). Nephews: Godchild-Jonathan (Rachel), Daniel (Tracy), Nicholas (Anna), Michael (Elaine), Nieces: Nadia (Owen), Elizabeth (Andy), Jennifer (Adam), several great nephews and nieces. Bob is preceded in death by this father: Jack J Santangelo, Paternal Grandparents: Jack and Jenny Santangelo, Maternal Grandparents: Michael and Anna Marriello. Bob was a 1968 graduate of Archbishop Stepinac High School. He continued his education at Dayton University and Iona College receiving a bachelor’s degree in English. Bob lived most of his life in Westchester County, NY, until moving his family to Asheville, NC, in 1989, to join his family-owned business in Woodfin, MITCO and Palmer Wahl Instruments. Bob was a successful real estate investor and enjoyed living in Western North Carolina. Upon retiring in 2005, and receiving a liver transplant in 2006, Bob continued to invest in real estate and live his final years in the Asheville area. Bob was an avid sports fan and loved attending live rock ‘n roll music concerts. Bob will be greatly missed by all! The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support given during this time. A Visitation will be held at Morris Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Eugene’s Catholic Church. Father Pat Cahill will officiate. The Santangelo family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. prior to the Mass at 2:30 p.m. Graveside Services will take place on Tuesday , November 5, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Lewis Memorial Park.
