Ronnie Lee Brockwell

Ronnie L. Brockwell, age 61, of Candler, died peacefully at his home in the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 10, 2023. Ronnie was born in Asheville on June 1, 1961, the son of the late, Odus Robert Brockwell and Mary Frances Crigger Brockwell. He attended Asheville High School and grew up in Buncombe County and had friends everywhere. He married his sweetheart, Diana Meadows in 1980 and they devoted their entire adult lives to their raising and loving their son, Ronnie Brockwell and loving their grandsons, Brayden and Trenton, unconditionally. Ronnie struggled for over 20 years with kidney disease, having a kidney transplant and multiple surgeries. He fought through lung cancer and multiple related illnesses over the decades, but you never saw Ronnie give up. He worked every day he could get out of bed. Before his illness he worked for Rainbo Bakery, getting up in the dark to deliver bread to the grocery stores. When his kidney disease pushed him into retirement after 25 years of running his route, Ronnie picked up a paintbrush and joined his brothers and then on his own, painting homes for families. He was the kind of man, you invited into your home and family and trusted while he was there painting. You knew you made a new friend by the time your home was painted. Ronnie was the one everyone called when their car broke down, their house needed an emergency repair or any other crisis. He put down what he was doing, and he arrived with his tools to make your repairs, give you a hug and made you believe it would all be ok. Ronnie and Diana loved watching Carolina Basketball and the Carolina Panthers together. They enjoyed their times in Gatlinburg, TN and at the beach. Family was the most important dynamic of Ronnie’s life and any way and any time he could share time with them, he was happy. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diana Meadows Brockwell, of the home, his son, Ronnie Brockwell and his partner, Tara Ledford, of Canton, two grandsons, Brayden and Trenton Brockwell, granddaughter, Allie Burglund, siblings, Steve Brockwell, (Debbie), Judy Frederick (Arthur), Robert Brockwell, Russell Brockwell, father and mother-in-law, Harold and Janice Meadows, and a large family of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who are considered family. Ronnie was loved and will be missed by so many. In addition to his parents, Ronnie was predeceased by his brother, Grady Brockwell, nephew, Travese Pressley and a niece, Tracey Brockwell. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00 pm, Saturday, January 14, at Morris Funeral Home, 304 Merrimon Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801, A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 pm in the Chapel at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Brockwell officiating.
