Mr. Wade Hall

Wade Hall passed away peacefully on May 1, 2013 surrounded by those who loved him. Wade Hall was the son of the late Mrs. Sue Lytle Hall and Frank Wade Hall Sr. of Asheville and had been a prominent attorney in Asheville for over 56 years. Wade Hall was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Shirlee Bordner Hall, and is survived by their daughters Kelly Hall Schultz and Stacey Hall McDonald, step sons Hank Becker and Tim Becker, and 7 grandchildren, Luke Becker, Sarah Becker, Abigail Becker, Caleb Becker, Hannah Schultz, Ella McDonald, Harper McDonald. Mr. Hall is also survived by his siblings Mary Alice Hall and her husband, George Reeves, David Wade Hall, Doris L. Hall, Martha A. Hall Morrow, and numerous nieces and nephews. Wade Hall was a native of Asheville, NC and spent his entire life supporting his community. Wade attended Lee Edwards High school where he was a starting wingback for the football team. In 1947, Wade contracted one of the first cases of polio in Asheville and lost use of his legs. A man of strong fortitude, he returned to high school in 1948 and became president of the high school senior class of 1950. Wade attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill where earned his A.B. and law degree. Mr. Hall opened his law practice in Asheville in 1956 and practiced law for 56 years. In addition to his law practice, Mr. Hall was an entrepreneurial businessman. He developed Merrimon Square and owned several businesses, including Kelsey’s Ice Cream and Skylanes Bowling Center in West Asheville. During his lifetime, Mr. Hall had a long list of accomplishments and civic contributions including: Director of the Buncombe County March of Dimes, President of the Young Democratic Club of Asheville, 1958 Outstanding Handicapped Professional Man of Buncombe County, Chairman of the 12th Congressional District of Young Democrats of Buncombe County, Secretary of the Civic Club, member of the North Carolina Bar Association, along with membership in other civic groups such as the Asheville Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees, Breakfast Optimist Club, and the 1st Baptist Church of Asheville. Mr. Hall ran for the Democratic nomination for the North Carolina State House of Representatives in 1960 and was nominated as Asheville’s Outstanding Young Citizen in 1959. Mr. Wade Hall's funeral will be held on Saturday May 4, 2013 at 1:00pm at Morris Funeral Home, 304 Merrimon Avenue with interment at Lewis Memorial Cemetery directly following the service. The family will receive visitors from 5:30-7:30pm Friday May 3, 2013 at Morris Funeral home. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Asheville March of Dimes.
