Ann Carpenter Gregg, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Rolling Green Village, Greenville, SC. A native of Cleveland County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Andrew A. Carpenter and Buena Sperling Carpenter. She was a 1945 graduate of Waco High School and a 1949 graduate of Furman University, where she received a BS Degree in Home Economics. After graduation, she was a Home Agent with the NC Agriculture Extension Service in Gaston County, NC, before her marriage in 1951 to John P. Gregg, Jr., at which time she moved to Asheville, NC. For the next 65 years she lived in Asheville and Biltmore Forest, moving to Greenville, SC in 2016. Mrs. Gregg was a member of First Baptist Church, Asheville, since 1952. She taught adult Sunday School, was a Sunday School Department Director, Choir member, President of the Day Society of Baptist Women, President of the Woman’s Missionary Society, Chairman of the Social Committee for ten years, Decorations Committee for ten years and a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. During her children’s school years, shew was active in the PTA, serving as President of Newton School PTA, the City Council PTA and Grade Mother Chairman for ten years. Mrs. Gregg was also a member and President of the Lanier Literary Club, member and President of the Needlecraft Club, member of the Junior Woman’s Civic Club and Asheville Woman’s Club. She was a trustee on the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation Board. Mrs. Gregg is survived by her son, J. Roger Gregg and his wife, Mary Jane of Asheville, her daughter, Nancy Gregg Goad and her husband, E. Robert of Greenville, SC, grandson, Matthew R. Gregg and his wife, Krista of Fletcher, a great granddaughter, Ava Marie Gregg of Fletcher and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at 1:00 on Saturday, December 8, 2021, at Morris Funeral and Cremation Care, 304 Merrimon Avenue, Asheville NC 28801. Her Funeral Service will begin at 2:00pm in the Chapel. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery immediately following the service. Rev. Dr. Pamela Cole will officiate.
