“Dylan is one of the nicest and kindest people you will ever meet” People shared this comment with us so many times. In spite of the obstacles and challenges he faced, he never complained or had an unkind word to say. He lived each day as a gift and made all he came in contact with better for having known him. His smile would light up a room. Even when he did not feel well or was having a difficult day, he smiled. Dylan was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at three years old. He walked until he was nine years old. We were able to take him skiing, the beach, hikes, all before he was nine years old. Even when he had to use a wheelchair full-time, he adaptive skied, we took a six-week trip out west and he was able to visit Area 51, Carlsbad Caverns, San Diego (especially Legoland), Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Yosemite, San Francisco, and Mount Rushmore. The special part of the trip was the part that we did all of this in a motorhome driving over 6,000 miles. He loved IT!! Dylan also loved to fish and spend time with his Dad and brother at the pond on his grandfather’s farm. Dylan attended North Asheville Christian School for twelve years. He graduated salutatorian of his class. He was also Homecoming King his senior year. He then attended UNC-A and graduated with a B.A. in New Media and Computer Science. Dylan was called home on September 13, 2021. Heaven truly gained an angel. We take great comfort in knowing that Dylan is safe with our Lord but also that he now able to walk and run on his own. He was such a bright light to all that new him. I have no doubt that we will see him again!! Dylan is survived and loved by his Mom & Dad (Glenda and Clint), his brother Brett, his grandparents Virginia Peters, Glen Peters, Steve and Judy Weinert, Aunt Janet Wheeler (husband Sam and cousins Betsy and Mad), Aunt Lisa (husband Roy, cousins Steve and Ryan), Uncle Gerry (wife Bonnie, cousins Nicole, Tara and Mitch), Aunt Lynne (cousins RD and Logan), Uncle Eric (wife Michelle, cousins Cole, Lane, Sawyer and Kamden) and many additional family and friends!!
