Mr. Kenneth Douglas Meeke

Ken Meeke, 95, of Asheville died June 6, 2016. He was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on April 10, 1921 and was preceded in death by his parents, George and Hilda Meeke. His higher education was interrupted by WWII where he took part in the Sicilian Invasion and spent the rest of the war in Italy and Europe with the 1st Canadian Infantry Division with the rank of Captain. Following the end of the war, he graduated from the University of Toronto, Canada. His entire professional career was with Otis Elevator where he served in various positions including, international auditing, developing and implementing new systems which included the Corporate Data Center. In 1956, he married Ingeborg Schroeder and they made their home in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. They left NY in 1987 and moved to Asheville. He was an avid golfer and bridge player. He held memberships in his fraternity, Theta Delta Chi, the Asheville Citizen Club and Asheville New Friends. He is survived by wife of 60 years, Ingeborg Meeke. Ken requested cremation and that no memorial service be held.
