Mr. Robert Roby Cline

January 27, 1927 - August 2, 2017

Robert R. Cline, 90, of Asheville, died on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the John F. Keever Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Asheville he was born to the late R.R. Cline and Elsie Sherrill Cline. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Louise Brown Cline and his sister, Annie Laura Cline. Robert was a graduate of Asheville High School and serviced his country in the United States Navy Air Force. He was an avid sports fan, especially the North Carolina Tar Heels and the St. Louis Cardinals and he found great joy in refereeing local school football games. Robert was known to make pies, just to give them away. He loved music, all pets, especially little dogs, and a good nap. He is survived by his cousins; several nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 AM on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Lewis Memorial Park with Dr. Rob Blackburn officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. Robert was a daily visitor of the YMCA and it was a place near and dear to his heart. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Roberts name to the YMCA, 30 Woodfin St, Asheville, NC 28801.
