James Monroe Bolick, Jr., affectionately known as Jimmy to his friends and family, entered into eternal rest on August 31, 2024, at the age of 69. Born on January 14, 1955, in Jacksonville, Florida, Jimmy was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew him. His departure from this world took place in Springfield, Missouri, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and cherished memories. Jimmy was the beloved son of the late James M. Bolick, Sr. and Patricia Ann Guice. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Patty, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring partnership. Together, they raised three wonderful children: sons, James Ray and Nathan Wayne, and daughter Rachel Ann. Jimmy's role as a grandfather was one of his greatest joys, and he was blessed to be surrounded by twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his spirit and life's lessons. Jimmy's siblings, Janice, Pam, Beth, and Michael, will fondly remember their brother's unwavering support and the unforgettable moments they shared. His presence in their lives was a source of constant love and strength. After graduating from Enka High School and earning an Associate's Degree in Nursing from Haywood Tech, Jimmy dedicated 30 years of his life to the Charles George VA Hospital. He retired in 2010, leaving behind a professional legacy characterized by compassion, dedication, and service to the veteran community. Throughout his career, Jimmy became a great friend to many, touching the lives of those he worked with and cared for. Jimmy's interests were as rich and varied as the life he led. He had a passion for hunting ginseng and would often be found traversing the woods in search of this prized root. His love for the great outdoors was evident in the peace and contentment he found in nature's embrace. A collector at heart, Jimmy enjoyed the thrill of discovering unique bottles and antiques. His collection was a testament to his appreciation for history and the stories embedded within each object. Auctions were another of Jimmy's favorite pastimes, and he enjoyed the excitement and camaraderie that came with going to many different auctions over the years. Jimmy's life was marked by a quiet strength and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. His kind spirit and generous heart left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His laughter, wisdom, and gentle nature will be deeply missed but will continue to resonate with those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of his journey. As we bid farewell to James Monroe Bolick, Jr., we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories shared by family and friends and the profound impact he left on the world. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 in the chapel of Morris Funeral Home, 304 Merrimon Ave., Asheville. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Jimmy's grandson, Rev. Joe Harwood, will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, 901 Aiken Road, Asheville.
