February 27, 1989 - April 7, 2021
Ian McGrayne, 32, passed away peacefully at Mission Hospital surrounded by family on April 7, 2021. Ian was a native of Asheville, NC, graduated from Asheville High School, and was a starting offensive and defensive lineman for the 2005 NC State 3A Football Championship team. He also attended Western Carolina University. Ian loved living life to its fullest. He was an accomplished chef and loved to cook good food, help people smile, and was a skilled member of the Legendary Angel’s of Midgard. Mostly, Ian loved life itself, his family, friends, and the best dog ever, Avalanche. Anyone that knew Ian remembers his kind heart, big brown eyes, dimpled smile, #73 and his trademark greeting “It’s another beautiful day!” Ian is survived by his father and stepmother Chris and Cindy McGrayne, his mother and stepfather Pam and Mike Holcombe, his sister and brother-in-law Amanda and Nick Fisher with nephews Quinn and Colt, and his brother Austin McGrayne and fiancée Haley Larabee. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, stepbrothers and sisters and all of their families. Thank you, Ian, for the love, laughs, friendship and memories. Rest In Peace and fly high. A Celebration of Ian’s Life will be held from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Morris Funeral & Cremation Care 304 Merrimon Avenue Asheville, NC 28801 (www.morrisfamilyfuneralhome.com). Masks are required. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at MAHEC Family Medicine, Asheville Gastroenterology Associates and Mission Hospital.
